Some Goals for 2012
As we approach the end of the first month of 2012, plans for the Annual activities of Hope Cove Life Boat are well advanced. Since the formation of the Company, late in 2010, progress has been swift. Recruitment of crew and associated helpers has gone from strength to strength, a comprehensive training programme is well established, all necessary documentation has been produced and approved, and support from near and far has been phenomenal.
As a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers, we rely exclusively on donations to finance the services we provide for the general public. Generous gifts from a wide range of personnel have been gratefully received ranging from small children giving a few pence of their precious pocket money to others who have kindly given larger amounts.
All outstanding accounts have been settled. For example professional services such as Insurance, Maritime Inspections, specialist maintenance assistance total amounts well in to a five figure sum. Fuel never seems to get any cheaper, training equipment is for ever being updated and necessary technical and safety equipment is continually being renewed.
We have been able to invest enough money to guarantee the running costs for the coming year, but as we knew from the outset, this is going to be the year when we will have to be ordering a new boat. In total we will need to have raised One Hundred Thousand Pounds by the end of 2012. More importantly, we need to have a significant amount in our ‘coffers’ by the middle of the Summer in order to have the financial confidence to place an order for, and pay a sizeable deposit on a specialist boat, to be ready for 2013.
Much has been done so far and we have had ‘pledges’ of various amounts which we hope will come to fruition later in the year. However, we cannot be complacent and will continue to maintain the same level of support demonstrated in the last 12 months throughout 2012. I do hope that we might be able to rely on both existing supporters and those for whom, Hope Cove Life Boat will new for 2012.
